In contrast to other paper-based packages which when torn can emit loose fibers into the sterile operating fields (increasing the likelihood of contamination), the HDPE-AllegroT is an all-polymer structure that is completely fiber-free. The proprietary coextruded blend of the AllegroT sealant is engineered to produce remarkably smooth, consistent peel strength over a very wide heat sealing window. Upon opening the package, the user is assured of a hermetic seal via the bright white tamper-evident seal indicator. This package represents the first use of the AllegroT peelable sealant technology within a one-step manufacturing process. Additionally, material cost savings have been realized since the new top and bottom webs are made using fewer manufacturing steps.
